I guess it's a Schueler family tradition to wear the PFD, so when you capsize, all you have to grope around for is the GPS and cellphone on the bottom. It's always nice to see a lake that's free of Zebras, and maybe this is sufficiently calcium-poor that it will stay that way.

Nothing is so un-updated as the web page announcing an academic conference! In fact, one might compile a webpage of the oldest pages still announcing conferences long past. This spring, Kari and I mistakenly submitted an abstract to the form for a 2008 conference, which wasn't differentiated on the website from the 2010 meeting. At least at this Durham site, since they have a meeting every year, they're forced to change the page at least annually.

Very nice pictures of these anciently groomed grounds. And how different from "Canada expects every couple to perform all the duties that the government willfully neglects." -- http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/magazine/jun10/environmental-scientist.asp

At last - some images of your whearabouts! What ancient and respectable stone and wood! I especially like the one with the angular pavement piece and your feet!

John -- great work on the clip, it really suggests the spirit of F&A's unique fieldwork. Can't wait to see the larger Mudpuppy Night piece!
